Narrative:
Our 2012 trip to Coya was another busy trip. There were many people to see as evidenced by the picture of the crammed lobby at the Kausay Wasi Clinic.

One of the patients we saw was Juan Carlos. He came to the Clinic with a congenital deformity that prevented him from walking. Dr. Shaw performed a bilateral tibial amputation so Juan Carlos could walk with prostheses. Immediately after the operation, casts were applied and Todd Nelson applied a short prostheses. The whole team was involved on this individual. Heather Lehrman, occupational therapist, and Lora Miller, physical therapist, did an amazing job working with his mobility. The larger black leg prosthesis were left for him as he grows. Juan Carlos never would have walked without this surgery.
